Research

Science is at the core of forensics, and the identification process. Without research into all of the multidisciplinary aspects of the identification process, improvements cannot be made. Many experts spend their lives contributing their knowledge to the field through peer-reviewed documented experiences and experiments. Each paper significantly contributes to the understanding and building of the field.

Below is a list of published and presented research I have contributed to, and specific research projects I have led.

Forensic case documentation and reporting routinely requires the inclusion of audio-visual material of human remains to assist with visual documentation and interpretation. The forensic community has emphasized that recording audio-visual material containing human remains without valid reasoning is not recommended. It is possible for the material to be replicated, displayed and occasionally filtered into the public domain without justification or limits, if presented with the opportunity. Such dissemination could remove the deceased person from their context, dehumanize them and be detrimental to forensic activities.
